They camouflage themselves amongst the rocks

The rock bass is a small predatory fish that is camouflaged amongst the rocks. Originally from North America, it was introduced to France into the Saône and other rivers around 1908. It disappeared for some time, then reappeared in certain parts of the Loire river in 1976. Part of the Centrarchidae family, it is often mistaken for small black bass.
