Welcome to the fascinating world of the Grand Aquarium de Touraine Our enthusiastic and motivated team present eight interactive educational workshops...and some new features. We are delighted to share our universe of rivers and oceans with you. Participate and learn, discover and explore the aquatic world.

Free teacher planning visit.

Dear Teachers, We invite you to visit the Grand Aquarium to plan your students’ trip. Discover the Aquarium and get to know the different exhibits. The planning visit winds up with a presentation of our programmes and educational material.  This is a valuable phase of your planning visit. Registration for planning visit: resa@grandaquariumdetouraine.com. We also provide educational material for your class’s level to prepare your visit.

Conditions and bookings for all visits:

School groups require booking and are subject to availability.

One accompanying adult obligatory and free for 8 pre-school children/10 primary and secondary students paid.

Additional accompanying adult: €7.50

Min. 15 children for group bookings.

    Discover of forms, colors and textures

    Method

    Children discover the aquatic world With Bernard through many differents forms, colors ans textures.

    Artistic realisation made with creativity in association with aquatic world elements.

  • Cycle 1 (aged 5 to 7) - 15 to 20 students

    Project

    Awaken the senses

    Method

    The children discover several live animals in and on the water’s edge and develop their senses.

    Material

    Rainstick, crayfish shells, feathers etc.

  • Cycle 2 and 3 (aged 6 to 11) - 15 to 30 students

    Tactile experience

    Project

    Discover the animals from the Atlantic Ocean coasts

    Method

    The Loire river flows into the Atlantic Ocean, near the coastline where lots of small animals live. In this workshop, children can discover, see and touch starfish, anemones, crabs, sea urchins.

    Developing awareness about environment protection

    Method

    This green-citizen workshop addresses pollution: the consequences and what we steps we can take to avoid destroying our environment.

    Material

    Waste selection, time scale, illustrations, etc.

    Learn about the aquatic food chain

    Method

    Fish eat a wide variety of food. This workshop defines their food and the interaction between different animals.

    The Aquarium’s sharks

    Project

    The particular anatomy of sharks and their life in the ocean

    Method

    We have several types of tropical sharks at the Aquarium. In this workshop, students learn about their magnificent anatomy and how it makes them perfect predators. Unfortunately, their disappearance threatens an irreversible imbalance.

    Material

    Magnifying glass, sharks’ teeth etc.

    Method

    At the Aquarium, we complete a range of tasks to maintain the animals in optimal condition and ensure they are at the best. In this workshop you will learn about our daily tasks.
