The source of the Loire river

At the source, where it begins, the Loire river is an oxygen-rich freshwater habitat. It is the preferred habitat for trout, salmon and other small fish which live in a variety of environments such as mountain streams and lakes, or at the foot of a windmill wheel. Then as the river widens, it becomes the habitat for other fish species.
